The day I decided to learn how to juggle 3 balls, I watched a documentary about juggling on TV. Unfortunately, I don’t know the name of the documentary, or even what channel it was on. I never saw it again.
But that documentary is what inspired me to start juggling in the late summer/early fall of 2000. One of the guys was juggling three balls in columns, something I had never seen before. Another juggled clubs in a park.
As soon as it was over, I took three tennis balls with me to my front yard and started to learn to juggle them.
In the documentary, they interviewed some guys who liked to juggle, and one of them said two things that I remember to this day, 10 years later:
- Juggling is the closest to real magic you’re ever going to get.
- If you’re not obsessed with one thing, you’re going to be depressed about everything else.
